Americans Representing Themselves Legally

Andria Simmons of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution has reported (September 5, 2010) more people have been forgoing lawyers and act on their own to save money. Simmons noted that courts are concerned about the trend in civil matters.
Problems arise when proper court procedures are not followed and the self represented use more court staff time and slow down the proceedings in courts that need to be more efficient in view of budget cuts.
An ABA survey of judges showed worse outcomes for litigants without legal representation.
