Montevideo, Uraguay — Reducing blood pressure by a given amount prevents more cardiovascular events in women than men, according to a new meta-analysis of individual data on more than 900 subjects. The study is the first to examine sex-specific differences in the association between outcome, and blood pressure based on ambulatory monitoring, says Dr. Jose Boggia (Universidad de la Repulblica, Montevideo, Uruguay, and colleagues in their paper published online January 24, 2011 in Hypertension.
